Music industry pushing for copyright adjustment

Music industry executives met for a congressional hearing June 16 to discuss music licensing changes for online, television and radio media. Federal regulation of music licensing has barely been updated since the advent of online streaming services. The date of the second hearing is set for June 25. (From The New York Times)

 

Marriage Equality raises funds via Irish festival

The Various Voices Festival was held in Dublin, Ireland over the weekend. Fifty LGBT choirs performed during the event in an effort to raise global awareness of, and funds for the Marriage Equality organization. (From TheJournal.ie)

 

Influential singer Jimmy Scott passes away

The prominent jazz vocalist, who was 88 years old, died in his sleep at his Lass Vegas home. During his career, he worked with notable artists such as Ray Charles and Lou Reed. (From Rolling Stone)
